The Magnificent 7: Rules to Live By for a Healthier Life

Throughout the year I attend different seminars as part of my continuing education as a Naturopathic doctor. This past weekend I was fortunate to attend a seminar by Dr. Robert Rakowski. Besides learning new clinical pearls and re-inforcing several of the reasons why I am a Naturopathic Doctor in the first place, I was also impressed with how he educates his patients in a simplistic way. So here is a simple take-home list of rules for everyone who is making steps to live a healthier life. Dr. Rakowski calls them the Magnificent 7.

EAT RIGHT: "You are what you eat". We need to eat foods that build our bodies up and avoid foods that tear them down.

DRINK RIGHT: Drinking uncontaminated water is the only way to stay properly hydrated.

THINK RIGHT: Continue to learn because brain neurons will die if not stimulated.

MOVE RIGHT: Human bodies were designed to move everyday and people who exercise regularly have healthier bodies and brains.

SLEEP RIGHT: Sleep restores our brain and body while poor sleep or not enough sleep increases our risk of dying.

POOP RIGHT: Bowel health determines body health. You need to have at least 1 easy bowel movement a day.

TALK RIGHT: Optimists have a 42% less death risk than pessimists. The type of energy that you hold in your body will come out of your mouth.
