QNC practitioners Michelle Durkin, ND, and Janet Riley, RN, completed advanced training on Mother and Baby Bowen over this past weekend. This course was a wonderful opportunity to increase the knowledge base of using the Bowen technique with pregnant women and babies to treat certain health conditions. The course was taught by a midwife and Bowen therapist Rick Minnery, who has been practising for over 20 years in England. Because the Bowen technique is a very non-invasive, hands-on body therapy, it is an excellent therapy to use for babies, children, and pregnant women.
In the context of Mother and Baby Bowen, Bowen therapy can be used for infertility, optimal fetal positioning, labour induction, pain relief during labour, perineal tearing, insufficient or overproduction of milk, mastitis, colic, and reflux, and more.
