Get clear on your why

Author: Dr. Michelle Durkin on 29 October 2019

Today I'm going to let you in on a little secret...this is what separates the people who make the changes they want to make, from those who don't.

All you need to do is get clear on your why.

Anything you want to pursue in life will have much more meaning if you understand WHY you want to pursue it. This couldn’t be more important when it comes to your eating and self-care habits.

Once you understand on a deeper level what is driving you to want to improve your health, you will tap into an inner strength that is greater than you ever thought possible.

To fully explore your own unique WHY, spend some time reflecting on these two questions below. Keep your answers to these questions handy and refer to them often. Not just when things are going well, but also when you encounter inevitable glitches and momentary setbacks along the way.

1. What do I fear is going to happen if I don't get control of my health?

2. What do I stand to gain by getting control of my health? How do I want to feel? What might I achieve? ?What does it mean for me and my family?

The thoughts you have can be powerful allies OR your biggest hurdle when comes to reaching your health goal.

You get to choose. Choose wisely 🙂

Now I would love to hear from you! What is one thing you fear is going to happen if you don't get control of your health? Leave a comment below and I'll be back next week with another edition of Doctor as Teacher Tuesday!

Anna

If I do not care for myself the best I can with help from professional’s like you I fear ending up not being able to stay healthy and to remain in an independent lifestyle. Nursing homes really do not appeal.

That is a great WHY Anna!
