Dr. Durkin and Janet recently had the opportunity to travel to Austrailia for the International Bowen Conference. It was held in beautiful Manly, Austrailia on October 16th and 17th. It was 2 full days of interesting speakers that are pioneers in the Bowen therapy field. Besides learning new and up to date information in Bowen therapy it gave them a great chance to connect with other practitioners who are using the same wonderful therapy and share stories of success and get advice on some more difficult cases. The trip was not all work however. How can one travel 23 hours in a plane and not do some sightseeing? Their travels included Sydney, Cairns, the Daintree Rainforest, the Tablelands, the Great Barrier Reef, Melbourne and Geelong. In Geelong they were able to meet up with senior Bowen instructor Chris Reed who gave them a small tour which included a monument for Tom Bowen, the originator of the Bowen technique, and a few of the clinics he worked in several years ago. They were also able to receive a Bowen treatment Aussie style which Dr. Durkin really appreciated because she still felt like she was on the boat 2 days after visiting the Great Barrier Reef. Yikes!! Add seasickness to the list of complaints Bowen can treat! Here is a picture of Dr. Durkin and Janet at the monument of Tom Bowen. The hands holding the sphere represent the same position of a Bowen practitioner's hands holding the patient's head.
